Meagan Provines Technology Showcase
The following eight artifacts show an overview of my Masters of Arts in Educational Technology coursework. The assignments and projects below can be adapted into high school curriculum. Please contact me if you would like to learn more on how you can create technology enhanced projects with your class.
I created a infographic with data I collected from my colleagues. I was investigating the technology integration at Osbourn High School. The survey questions were centered around how my colleagues currently use technology, how can we improve or change technology integration practices at OHS and what professional development would be helpful? The infographic incorporates my survey data. Infographics are a great way to make data visually attractive.
Teachers work extremely hard all day long solving student’s problems and answering questions. There are several big education problems that need collaboration of Minds. The New Media Consortium identified five major education problems. In CEP 812, my group worked collaboratively on how to re-imagine teaching in a modern world; we decided teachers need to teach with project based learning to better meet our student's needs. Here is our blendspace presentation. A blendspace could be used as a student presentation instead of a PowerPoint. |
I used Spiderscribe to create vocabulary word webs as an example for my students as a part of a larger lesson incorporating Universal Learning Design to enhance learning for all students in my classroom. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework designed to meet the needs of all students. Vocabulary is very important to World History and I am glad I learned more vocab instructional tools incorporating technology. Spidescribe could be used to organize any content material including my example of new vocabulary words.

I created a digital story regarding a learning theory. I analyzed my students' end of the year monument project through the Social Constructivisit Theory. I had never used MovieMaker before and I was a little intimidated using something new. However, I end up enjoying making my digital story and my 9th grade world geography students loved being apart of my project. Making my movie proved to be easy; making a movie could be a great culminating unit assignment.

I created a popplet word map visualizing my Professional Learning Network. My Professional Learning Network has supported me through the MAET process; therefore, I liked visually organizing my support system. Just like SpideScribe, Popplet could be a great tool for visual learners to organize any course material.

I created an audio file interviewing my students to understand their understanding. I not only learned about my student’s understanding of culture but also learned how to create an audio file using Audacity. The assignment was daunting in the beginning because I have never used Audacity before so I asked for help from our school Instructional Technology Training Specialist, Bob Fabian. Bob was very helpful especially when editing my audio file and adding background music. I am proud of my final product and excited that I added another technology tool to my instructional tool box. High school students could create numerous interviews with any historical character or a radio announcement for a world event.

I created a course management system on CourseSites. Originally, I chose to use CourseSites because it is a free online version of Blackboard. I was able to create folders, upload assignments, discussion boards and quizzes. I love that my students would be able to access the course materials during snow day days or extended absences. Having a course management system is essential for any classroom.
I created a one minute video using popcorn maker about an education buzzword; I chose “lifelong learner.” I chose lifelong learner because that is what we all are showcasing in the MAET program; our desire to learn more past our required formal education.
I was excited about creating a video because I had no experience with video programs and was excited to learn. My video is not perfect but I am proud of my 1st ever video production. I definitely learned how to use a new technology tool. Both MovieMaker or Popcorn Maker can be used for students to create projects. |
